Interfaith Family Initiative/Keruv Policy

Congregation Beth Shalom's Interfaith Family Committee has worked diligently with our Clergy, the Executive Board, Board of Trustees, and the various arms of the synagogue, to articulate and drive the adoption of a formal policy defining how we will welcome interfaith families into our synagogue community.  As a result of these efforts, we are delighted to publish our Keruv Initiative Guidelines.

From our participation at national Keruv training events, it is clear that Congregation Beth Shalom is once again in a national leadership position within the Conservative Movement, as demonstrated by the Keruv planning, programming, and policy accomplishments we have achieved to date.  In announcing these Interfaith Family Initiative/Keruv guidelines, we now have the policies in place to actively welcome interfaith families as participating members of the congregation.

We are excited about the opportunity to grow and enrich the Congregation Beth Shalom community by welcoming interfaith family members and friends of our current membership, as well as reaching out to attract new members from the community at large.  We invite you to review these guidelines in addition to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), reach out to the interfaith couples and families that you know, and encourage them to explore our spiritual home.  We invite them to consider how we can support them in their own spiritual journey, and look forward to welcoming them as guests, and eventually members of Congregation Beth Shalom.
